How India Quickly Brought Home Bodies of Kuwait Fire Victims: Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh Shares His Story
Yeah, it's a sad story, but I've got to hand it to our government. They really pulled through for the families of the Indian nationals who lost their lives in that horrific fire in Kuwait. It's incredible how fast they managed to get everything done.
It all started when our PM, Narendra Modi, found out about the tragedy. He immediately called in the big guns, including me, Kirti Vardhan Singh, the Minister of State. We flew to Kuwait and met with their authorities, and the PM had already spoken to their top brass beforehand. That kind of preparation really helped speed things up.
The Kuwaitis were amazing too. They were really cooperative and did everything they could to help us. Usually, stuff like this takes forever, but thanks to their help and our PM's instructions, we managed to get everything wrapped up in just a couple of days. The identification process, which normally takes a week or more, was done in no time. I mean, it was really fast!
But the most important thing was bringing the bodies back home to their families. The moment those planes touched down in Kochi, you could see the relief on the faces of the families. They'd been waiting and worrying for so long, and now they could finally lay their loved ones to rest. It was a beautiful thing to witness.
I'm just glad that our government was there for them when they needed us most. We'll keep working to make sure that no matter where our citizens are in the world, we'll always be there to support them.
