China Installs Toilet Timer Thingies at Unesco World Heritage Site: 'Your Time is Counted'
So, they're putting these digital timers above the toilets at the Yungang Grottoes in China. They're part of an effort to deal with the growing number of tourists, who flock there to see the famous statues and stuff. But people are like, "Wait, what? They're timing us in there?!"
Yeah, it sounds kinda weird. I mean, I get that they want to make sure everyone can use the bathroom and not have to wait forever, but it does feel a bit invasive. The staff at the Grottoes are trying to calm everyone down, though. They say the timers aren't there to kick people out or set time limits or anything. They're just part of a new system to manage the restrooms better and make sure everyone has a good time.
Still, it's kind of funny how this whole thing has everyone talking. Some people are all for it, saying it'll reduce wait times and keep things clean. Others are like, "No way, leave me alone in there!" It's making us all think about privacy and public space and stuff.
Anyway, the Yungang Grottoes will probably keep working on finding the best way to deal with the crowds. In the meantime, if you're planning a visit, maybe bring a book for the line!
