Joe Biden Signs with Creative Artists Agency: A New Chapter in His Post-Presidency Career

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has signed with one of the most influential talent agencies in the entertainment industry, Creative Artists Agency, or CAA. This will mark the second time Biden has been represented by the agency, the first having signed from 2017 to 2020. The move may suggest a new path in post-presidency for Biden.

CAA Welcomes Biden Back

Richard Lovett, co-chair of CAA, confirmed that Biden signed on, referring to him as "one of America's most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs." He underlined Biden's lifelong commitment to public service, referring to his leadership as a symbol of unity, optimism, and dignity.

Biden's History with CAA

While working with CAA, Biden released his 2017 memoir, Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose. That book, a tribute to the memory of his late eldest son, Beau Biden, became a #1 New York Times bestseller and then an American Promise book tour-one widely regarded as a precursor to his 2020 presidential campaign.

Hollywood Awaits: Opportunities for Joe Biden?

The Los Angeles Times says that Biden's return to CAA could unlock major financial opportunities. The last time he was signed with the agency, his income skyrocketed from under $400 000 annually to more than $15 million in two years-thanks to his bestselling book and high-profile appearances.

It also reported that Biden's son, Hunter Biden, has been mulling over launching his own media projects. A documentary crew has been shadowing him for a project backed by the L.A.-based lawyer Kevin Morris. His friend Bobby Sager says Hunter may also take up podcasting or public speaking in the coming days.

What's Next for Biden?

Since leaving office in January, Biden has not publicly announced any new projects. However, during his farewell speech at the White House, he assured supporters, “We’re leaving office, we’re not leaving the fight.” He has been spotted in Delaware and remains in touch with former aides, though no book or media deal has been confirmed yet.

CAA’s Political Reach

Though better known for repping Hollywood A-listers such as Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, CAA has ties to political figures, as well. For example, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama-their production company, Higher Ground, signed with CAA when the company was behind the Oscar-winning documentary American Factory. Another example is that of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who signed with the agency for her book Hard Choices.

While transitioning from public office, Joe Biden recently became a great-grandfather, celebrating the birth of his granddaughter Naomi Biden's son.
