President Droupadi Murmu Wraps Up Groundbreaking Trip to Fiji. Fiji latest news

Suva, Fiji – August 7, 2024

Hey, guess what? President Droupadi Murmu just finished her big trip to Fiji, and it's kind of a huge deal because it's the first time an Indian head honcho has visited the island country. She's been hanging out with the big wigs there, like President Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, who invited her for this cool get-together. They talked about making their friendship even better and working on cool projects together.

Before she left, Fiji's number two, Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad, gave her a sweet send-off at Nadi airport. She's now on her way to New Zealand, which the folks at the Ministry of External Affairs posted about on X (you know, that site that used to be Twitter).

While in Fiji, she checked out the Sri Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi and said some prayers. Oh, and she got this fancy award called the Companion of the Order of Fiji, which is like the country's top prize for non-Fijians. How cool is that? She also chatted with the local Fijian government officials and even talked to the folks who live there who are from India. It's all about keeping those cultural and political ties tight, you know?

The Fijian government is pretty stoked about this visit because it shows that India is really into this whole "Act East Policy" thing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about back in 2014 at some big meeting. Basically, India wants to be buddies with more countries in the Asia-Pacific area, and this trip was like giving Fiji a gold star for friendship.

So, in the end, everyone's happy because this visit was like a big thumbs up for India and Fiji's relationship. It's like they're saying, "Let's do more stuff together!" And who doesn't love that?
