Discover El Salvador's Tasty Treats at Mi Chalateca in Federal Way
Craving some real Salvadorian eats? Mi Chalateca in Federal Way is the spot for you! This cozy restaurant has been around since 2004, serving up the goods from El Salvador for more than 20 years. You can find it at 1610 S. 341st Place, just a hop away from Pacific Highway. It's like a little slice of home for both the locals and folks who actually come from there.
A Trip to El Salvador in Every Bite
This place was started by Ana "Chayito" Jimenez, who left her hometown in Chalatenango and brought the flavors of El Salvador with her. Now, her daughter Martha runs the show, keeping it all about that authentic Salvadorian vibe. They're so dedicated to the food that they don't mix in dishes from other countries—it's all Salvadorian, baby!
Getting Bigger and Better
They're doing so well that they're opening a new place next year! They're still working out the details, but keep an eye out for the grand opening in February. They're pretty stoked about it, and so are we!
What to Order
Their menu is like a greatest hits of Salvadorian food. You've got your tamales, seafood, and all sorts of yummy stuff. But the real star? The pupusas. Think of them as stuffed tortilla patties, and oh boy, are they good. Martha's personal fave is the revueltas, which is cheese, beans, and pork all wrapped up in a delicious package.
Drop By Anytime
Missing the taste of home or just eager to try something new? Mi Chalateca's got you covered. They're open every day from 10 in the morning until 8 at night. So, head on over and grab a bite of El Salvador without leaving Federal Way.
