Yale Bulldogs Just Dropped the Highest Scoring Game in 125 Years of Program History
112 points. Zero mercy. One brand-new all-time Yale scoring record.
In front of a roaring John J. Lee Amphitheater crowd, the Yale men’s basketball team turned Tuesday night into a historic beatdown, torching SUNY Maritime 112–58 and officially eclipsing the 109-point mark set against Harvard… in 1925.
A Century-Old Record Falls in Flames
The previous record lasted exactly 100 years. It took this 2025-26 Yale squad less than 40 minutes to erase it.
Led by reigning Ivy League Player of the Year John Poulakidas (28 points, 5-7 3PT) and do-it-all guard Nick Townsend (24 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists), the Bulldogs shot 58% from the field, went 14-of-30 from three, and — get this — a perfect 18-for-18 from the free-throw line.
“Breaking a 100-year-old record? That’s surreal. But it’s a testament to how far we’ve come as a program.”
— John Poulakidas, postgame
By the Numbers
- 112 – New Yale single-game scoring record
- 58% FG • 47% 3PT • 100% FT
- 42–22 bench points advantage
- 28 points off 19 SUNY Maritime turnovers
- Yale is now 8-0 — best start since the 2015-16 team
What’s Next?
The Elis face Brandeis tonight (Wednesday) before Ivy League play heats up in January. If this performance is any indication, the rest of the Ancient Eight should be very afraid.
Records are meant to be broken. Legends are meant to be made.
And right now, Yale basketball is writing its own chapter.
