Pakistan Retaliates with Military Operation 'Bunyan Marsoos' After Indian Airstrikes

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated manifold after Pakistan confirmed launching a military counteroffensive at the break of day on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The operation follows the reported employment of air-to-surface missiles by India against three Pakistani airbases on May 7.

Pakistan's military reported that the response—codenamed "Bunyan Marsoos"—struck strategic Indian military targets, including missile bases and airfields, believed to be responsible for attacking Pakistani civilians, religious institutions, and military installations.

"We didn't wish to escalate but had to defend our sovereignty after unprovoked aggression," said a senior Pakistani military commander.

Airspace Closed Amid Escalation of India-Pakistan Tensions

In response to the attacks and ongoing military operation, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority announced the closure of national airspace between 03:15am local time (22:15 GMT) and 12 noon (07:00 GMT). The airspace closure will apply to all in- and out-bound flights, with notification to civil and military aviation authorities.
