Australia's PM Re-iterates Two-State Solution over Trump's Gaza Proposal

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese repeated his nation's long-time position on the need for a two-state solution to Middle East questions after former President Donald Trump announced his highly inflammatory proposition regarding the status of Gaza.

"Australia's position hasn't changed—today, last year, ten years ago, and also under the Howard government. The Australian government has consistently supported a two-state solution on a bipartisan basis," Albanese said at a press conference in Canberra.

Australia's Position on Gaza Assistance

Albanese also explained that Australia hasn't had any formal request regarding the rebuilding of Gaza but committed to humanitarian support.

"We have consistently supported a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Australia is prepared to assist in getting aid into Gaza, just as we have always done," he said.

Trump's Controversial Gaza Plan

The statement comes after Donald Trump, in a joint conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 4, revealed a plan to **take control of Gaza and relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries.

Such a move would run in complete contradiction to decades of international policy, which has considered Gaza an integral part of a future Palestinian state alongside the occupied West Bank. The global community, including Washington, has long supported the two-state solution as the path to lasting peace in the region.

Australia's Firm Position on Middle East Peace

Albanese said this to reaffirm Australia's principled attitude of foreign policy, underlining diplomatic stability and humanitarian efforts. As discussions over the future of Gaza heat up, Australia remains committed to supporting peace efforts while ensuring aid reaches those in need.
