Tragic Collision of DC Planes Claims Life of Lawyer on Her Birthday

A catastrophic mid-air collision in Washington, D.C. has taken the lives of everyone aboard an American Airlines Flight 5342 and a Black Hawk Army helicopter. The accident occurred just a few minutes before it was set to land, sending both aircraft ablaze in flames before plunging into the bottom of the Potomac River.

No Survivors Confirmed in DC Mid-Air Collision

Authorities have confirmed that all 67 people on board—60 passengers, four crew members, and three soldiers—have died. The search and recovery teams recovered 40 bodies and will resume operations on Friday morning.

Lawyer Elizabeth Keys Was Traveling Home on Her Birthday

The list of victims also includes Elizabeth Keys, a prominent lawyer who was returning from a work engagement in Kansas. The mother has come forth to reveal the heartbreaking news that Keys was on her way home on her birthday when the deadly crash occurred. Keys graduated valedictorian and Varsity sailor from Georgetown University Law Center.

Victim Identified: Sarah Lee Best

Among those 67 victims was Sarah Lee Best, a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Penn Law, who lost her life in the collision.
