YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa Safely Returns Home After Alleged Abduction

Lahore, Pakistan — YouTuber Aun Ali Khosa, who is alleged to have been abducted on August 15, is reported to have returned safely home, his attorneys confirmed. Reports of his safe return emerged after massive legal and social media uproar over his disappearance.

Khosa, known for his digital content creation, writing, and comedy, has a large following on YouTube with 137,000 subscribers. He went missing after police officials and some masked men barged into his Lahore apartment at dawn on August 15. He was taken away, along with his phone, laptop, computer system, and digital camera, and his family and followers expressed deep concerns for his safety.

The case got worse after Khosa's wife, Binish Iqbal, filed a writ petition with the Lahore High Court expressing the plea that her husband was unlawfully arrested by the law enforcement agency. She told the court that she was not sure about Khosa's arrest, and that Khosa might have become a target of 'enforced disappearance,' which drove all the more concern, and the court ordered the Lahore police to trace Khosa by August 20.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan also expressed its concerns on the disappearance of Khosa, stating that it may be related to his satirical work. The HRCP demanded an immediate release and an inquiry of the whole episode.

Khadija Siddiqi, Khosa's lawyer, tweeted late Monday night that he had emerged safely. Siddiqi was relieved and thanked, "Alhamdulillah, Aun Ali Khosa has been released! He has reached home!

" She then updated her post to point towards such trends of kidnappings, saying that they come with a specific modus operandi: The approach usually takes place early in the morning, with the kidnappers breaking into houses and removing all electronic devices, besides intimidating the victims, only to be released once a court order is procured.

Siddiqi stated that there should be legal accountability, saying, "If someone has broken the law, bring them before the court and take the case up there." Her statement reflects a wider concern about growing episodes of this nature and the demand for justice with transparency.

His brother, too, hailed it on social media, extending his gratitude for the nonstop coverage by all supporters, including journalists like Hamid Mir. "Alhamdulillah, my big brother Aun Khosa, a comedian turned hero, is back. Thank you Hamid Mir for raising the voice on National Television for Aun Khosa. Khosa family will always be thankful," he said. Once again, the incident has turned the spotlight back on freedom of expression and human rights in Pakistan, making a case for increased urgency toward the reform measures that offer more protection from arbitrary detention and abduction.
