US Military Finishes Pulling Out of Niger Drone Base Amidst Some Major Tension

So, the US military has officially wrapped up its move out of a big drone base in Niger called Air Base 201. This place was super important for fighting off bad guys like Islamist militants in the area. They had to do this because the folks in charge there, the junta, told them to get almost 1,000 US soldiers out after a coup happened last year.

Air Base 201 was like the main spot for keeping an eye on things and getting important info to fight the extremists. The US had put a lot of money into it, like 100 million bucks, but now it's all closed up.

Both the defense peeps from Niger and the US military said in a statement that they got everyone out on time, even before the deadline of September 15. This shows that even though things were pretty complicated with politics and stuff, they still worked well together.

Why'd they leave? Well, Niger decided they didn't want the US military there anymore, especially with all the worry about Russia maybe wanting to play military games in the area and Iran possibly looking to get some uranium nearby. So, the US decided to pack up and go.

This is a pretty big deal because it changes how the US works with other countries in that part of the world, especially when it comes to fighting terrorism in the Sahel region. The base was a big part of their strategy, so now everyone's watching to see what happens next.
