Torrential Rains Wreak Havoc in Southern China: 150+ Lives Lost in 2 Months

 

Oh man, it's been such a sad situation down in southern China lately. These crazy rains have really messed things up and taken a huge toll. More than 150 people have lost their lives in just two months because of all the storms and flooding. It's like Mother Nature went bananas and just wouldn't quit!

The Latest Nightmare

This past weekend was a real doozy. In Sichuan province, there was a massive flood and mud slide that hit early on Saturday. It was so bad that it wiped out a bunch of people and homes. This poor village called Ridi got hit the worst, with six people losing their lives and 19 others still missing. And if that wasn't terrible enough, a bridge collapsed, sending four cars into a gorge, and killing two more folks. Plus, it left eight more people unaccounted for.

Flood Season From Hell

Right now, China is in the middle of its peak flood season, which is basically like nature's way of saying, "Let's go nuts with the weather!" This time of year, from mid-July to mid-August, is always bad, but this year is off the charts. Some bigwigs in China are finally waking up and saying, "Okay, maybe we need to be more ready for this kind of stuff." With weather getting crazier and crazier, it's looking like we're going to see more of these disasters if we don't get our act together.
